Training & Professional Development
The Gestalt Individual, Couples and Small Systems Trainings are 9 month programs designed for those interested in the application of Gestalt Therapy as a healing, teaching, and self-growth modality. Level One is appropriate for anyone who desires a basic grounding in the Gestalt Theory, Principles, and Techniques. Level One training enables you to develop basic skills in Gestalt counseling and life coaching. Level Two is for the practitioner who desires to advance his or her psychotherapy skills in working with couples and small groups.
The Advanced Practitioners' Training is for those who wish to continue to learning the deeper principles and teachings of Fritz and Laura Perls with the goal of eventually training others or just enhancing one's own level of knowledge and expertise. Instruction is both didactic and experiential - offered in a within a rich and intimate group experience. Each level includes a minimum of 4 contact hours per month in Group learning and a minimum of 4 hours per month for practice.
Our objective is to support trainees to develop skills and competency in gestalt therapy theory and practice. We strive to integrate relational gestalt therapy principles with the unique personal style of each participant and facilitate the building of a supportive learning community. Trainees are placed in groups of about 8 to 12 members who are encouraged to use the support and commitment of cohorts to identify potential areas of growth and create opportunities to experiment both in the training and in practice settings. We are not interested in imparting a particular style of therapy or a restrictive method for practice. Our focus is in helping each trainee understand and develop gestalt therapy theory to be used as a support for his/her specific talents, style, approach to therapy, and areas of interest and responsibility.
Below is a listing of our programs, all of which feature our focus on the therapeutic relationship in the therapy process.
